Rudbeckia, which is commonly referred to as Black-eyed Susan, is a great, easy care and very hardy summer perennial in our area. During the summer months, these perennials are loaded with daisy-like flowers in shades of yellow, orange, and recently even some burnt umbers and reds. Each flower is capped by a large, dark seed head that the bees and butterflies love! Rudbeckia thrives and full-sun and any shade may stunt it's flower growth. Rudbeckia make great cut flowers, and the 'Goldstrum' variety is a Virginia native, recognized by the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, who says that 'Goldstrum' is a great plant for creating rain gardens.
Take a look below at a couple of the varieties of rudbeckia carried by Meadows Farms. Please note that not every variety can be found at all stores so please call your local Meadows Farms retail location for availability information.
