Adding structure, such as fountains and statuary, is a very popular trend in landscape design. Last Monday we had our true first taste of cold wintry weather when our high was only in the ’30s and we “officially” had one inch of snow.
Now that December is here and winter here in a week, it is time to take care of our outdoor garden accents. The reason giving them attention this time of year is because extreme and rapid changes in temperature and humidity may adversely affect concrete items, as concrete has a tendency to expand and contract with these changes. The ideal solution is to store your fountains or statuary away from direct exposure to the elements.
Concrete fountains and statuary are not cheap. Let’s be smart and protect them for the next few months.
